High Desert Early Childhood Centerprovides affordable, quality child care and education to low and middle income children who would be "At-Risk" without our service.

Purpose:
The Mission of the High Desert Early Childhood Center is to serve "At Risk" preschool children of the Victor Valley by providing a model program of specialized Day Care in an atmosphere which promotes the value of diversity, education, and strong and healthy families.
Goal:
Our goal is to provide quality Day Care to middle to low income families.

Program:
Our program is High/Scope. High/Scope’s cognitively oriented preschool curriculum represents an attempt to promote active learning on the part of the child. Active learning the direct and immediate experiencing of objects, High/Scope curriculum is based. Simply put young children learn concepts through self-initiated activity.
Key Experiences: Active Learning
Exploring actively with all the five senses
Discovering relations through direct experiences
Manipulating, transforming and combining materials
Choosing materials, activities, purposes
Acquiring skills with tools and equipment
Using the large muscles
Taking care of one’s own needs

Parent Meetings:
Monday April 15th, 4:30 to 5:15p.m. Growth and Development of your Preschool Child. Given by John Levell Director Pupil Personnel Services Victor Elementary School District. To be held at High Desert Early Childhood Center 16245 Desert Knolls Drive Victorville, CA 92392.
Up-Comming Events, Meeting & Fund-raisers
The Human Race Walk to be held May 11th 1996. Be a sponsor to one of our walkers. Sign up at High Desert Early Childhood Center. Ask for Kathy at 245-6006.
Jazz Festival to be held at the County Fairgrounds. June 16th 1996. Dinner tickets and seating will be available. More information coming soon.
Volunteers:
Needed for Yard Work, Repair and maintenance on building and playground. Contact Kathy at 245-6006.
